Featuring over thirty artists in three weeks, The Happy Family Series was a brimming collection of big-hearted demonstrations exploring
“harmonic antagonisms,” the awkward equilibriums, true or false, that
we forge with our loved ones/enemies. Curated by The Magpies, the Series began on November 13, 2009 and ran through November 28. DOG appeared in week 2, Nov. 19-21, part of an impressive line-up of the Chicago fringe's finest. Glad to see was extremely well received by audiences, prompting one member to declare the film a "show stopper." Though the show did, in fact, go on.
Glad to see you speaking so clearly is our own exploration, not only of
the Happy Family Series theme, but the delicate negotiations of confined
space, and the leveraging of one's competencies with chairs and sitting as well.
As with all of our work, it's a collaborative effort that isn't complete until the audience is present. The piece features new music by David Pavkovic, with performances by Chris Sullivan and Vicki Walden. Edited by Vicki Walden.
